If you visit your bank's online service, the last thing you want to see is "database error".

But if you see "Microsoft Access" in same sentence, maybe it's time to change a bank.

BA-CA error

PS: Yes, that's my screenshot. I'm a client. I'm not a happy client.

U, madrfakrji. Access uporabljajo.

Nemogoče je vedeti in predviditi vse in to če kdo IT folk ve.

@Janez:

@Janez: Tudi če ste prišli do objave posredno, pomeni, da networking deluje. Me veseli!

This post puts shame to a new level. There is no excuse for having Microsoft Access database serving

Dear all,

Let me summarize my writing also for English speaking colleagues.

First of all my apology to all Online banking users for the unavailability of web pages. We try to diminish the quantity of described problems as much as possible but sometimes it can not be prevented and we do our best to detect the problem in short time. We always try to achieve our goal - satisfy our users.

Online.ba-ca.si is our web page trough which our users access the Online banking application. The error which occurred on the screenshot is a consequence of posted news which are also displayed on this homepage. The error itself has no connection with internet banking system. Technology, tools and platforms, which are used (Java, SUN, Oracle, IBM…) are professional tools and professional HW and SW platforms.

MS Access however is a good tool and a solid base for quite some professional solution (accounting and other programs, web database…) but it sure isn’t a database that would suffice the needs of this group internet banking solution, which is offered by our bank group in 7 countries.

If you have any questions or comments regarding Online banking system do not hesitate to contact our helpdesk. Please find the contact data on the above mentioned web address, which has been made available soon after the first post.

Wish you a pleasant day!

I don't get it.
Access would not be my choice, but for read-only data this could be fine, I think. Depends on the architecture.
Main reason I have for never using Jet is the lack of 64-bit support.
Writing the error out as text to the end user on the other hand is bad in too many ways to mention.
I mean, for a bank.... my eyes hurt.
