I had a chance to test the PSP few weeks ago but haven't found time to blog about it. I got my hands on a piece with first version of firmware and a bag (literally) of UMD discs.

First thing I did was upgrade firmware to v2.0 in order to test out the WiFi. That was total no-brainer and I was connected to home WiFi in seconds. I was really excited about handheld device that would provide web access without wires through the house. But I quickly came to similar conclusions as Marko. It looks great, but sites are just not made for anything else than computer screen, you're quite powerless without query keyboard so the fun stopped after few screenshots.

I tested all the games in my goody-bag but there wasn't a single one that would impress me. I really have to point out the Ape Escape Academy. This has to be the worse game ever! Other games were better, but still no killer game for my taste.

All in all, the device is amazing. I still can't express my fascination with the screen. But the software is at crappy stage. Let's give developers a year in order to master the device and port the games like GT4 and Pro Evolution Soccer. And let's wait for a way to, ehm..., backup games. Those UMDs are way to expensive. Until then I'll just start up my PS2 and kick back on bed twice a month when I get game-itch.

Hey, I still owe you a beer and you owe me a race in GT4. You know, I haven't had a chance to play GT4 yet. :s
I almost bought it the other day but I figured I couldn't play it for at least a month so common sense won. I'm coming back to .Si in the beginning of December and I'll pay you a visit.

As for the PSP, I'm waiting for the exact same games. The Pro Evo 5, it's supposed to launch Nov 25th (about that time) and GT4 mobile. It's a new gaming device, there are no real interesting games for it, I agree. Most are just ports of what we've played already and it's just not that much of a fun. Except, I might lay down the 25 quid for Virtua tennis. Seems like a pretty playable game!

Browsing with PSP is really only when you *need* to look up for something or if you're bored out of your mind. Read as: you're not fed up with hitting the phone-like keyboard for characters. And the horizontal scrollbar... argh! At least my page shows in text only version :)

Yes, wait a couple of months for a better firmware, lower price and better gaming software.
