Firefox 1.0 Preview Release and Thunderbird 0.8 are out. I tried to update both yesterday and I got a big mess.

Firefox wouldn't start, all I got was some flashing windows. Reinstalling and removing Firefox data from profile didn't help a lot. I didn't have enough time so I gave up and switched back to Internet Explorer for a day. Today I uninstalled from Firefox from "Add Remove Programs" and reinstalled and it started working! I had to reinstall all plugins but that was actually a good thing as almost all my favorite plugins were also updated with new Firefox version.

With Thunderbird I had even bigger mess. Thunderbird would start but not show all menus or it would start, hog all CPU time but window was not even visible. Uninstalling didn't help and removing profile was not an option as I would loose all my private emails and account settings. After quite some guessing and trying I resolved my issue with removing "chrome" and "extensions" folders.

It works like a charm now and I'm a happy Firefox & Thunderbird user again.

This is good time to list my favorite plugins:

Did I miss anything?

Did you try the Live Bookmarks?

I'm fiddling with it now -- pretty excellent, so far.
