SQL Server 2005 Service Manager

It looks like Microsoft decided that in SQL Server 2005 the little icon that sits in your tray and lets you start/stop/pause SQL Server instances is no longer needed and so the killed poor SQL Server Service Manager. (Or did I miss something?) I agree that it might not make a lot of sense in production environmet. But on a development machine that doesn't run the server 24/7 in oder to maximaze available RAM for other programs it makes a lot of sense!

I almost started to write the Service Manager clone but I was lucky enough to google for it first. And I found it. It looks and work just like good 'ol thing. Thanks, Jasper!

Very useful app, but 20MB (!) of memory usage is too much like for a tray monitor: for example mysql tray monitor gets only 1.8MB

You can go to sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/sqlsrvcmanager) to download a similar utility wich takes less memory about 2 or 3 MB
